Ipoh @ Gua Tempurung River Tubing Trip

Hello Walkers!

I am finally back to update this long-leftout blog. I will be reviving this again.
So, I am here to update you guys on my Ipoh trip from 30 July - 31 July 2016.
In this blog, I will also list down the amount spent for this trip, approximately :D

We are travelling in a group of 11 pax, with 9 travelling from Penang and 2 from Ipoh. Travelling to Ipoh takes about 1.5 hours. Our first stop, for breakfast, we stopped by a new Dim Sum restaurant called Lok Hin Dim Sum.

Location of Lok Hin Dim Sum
less crowded, ample parking space. The food was indeed good and the most recommended one will be their Egg Tart. They come in mini sizes. So, 1 person can easily makan 1 plate on their own (3 pieces each place).

Egg Tart (Mini)

Chee Cheong Fun

Porridge

Sheng Jian Bao

Liu Shar Bao

Everyone have full-tummy and the bill is at RM223.70. Each person pay about RM20.30 for a satisfying breakfast.

After our breakfast, we proceeded to Gua Tempurung to begin our adventure! From Lok Hin to Gua Tempurung is about 25 minutes, depending on the traffic. You can easily find Gua Tempurung using Google Map or any navigation apps. In case you don't know what is Gua Tempurung and what activities available there, feel free to visit their website at http://www.guatempurung.my/. There is a bunch of information on the history, location and tour available. Basically, there are 3 types of caving available:

We bought the package for Caving Tour 3 + River Tubing. The package is at RM55 including Caving Tour 3, Lunch and River Tubing. You can contact Shahril (012-554 9830 or 010-372 5676) to make booking or enquiry about the package. They are very accommodating and experience guides.

Tour 1 & Tour 2 are dry tour while Tour 3 & Tour 4 are wet tour.

So if you're going for the wet one, do not forget to bring gloves, torchlight, comfortable, preferably long sleeves to protect your knees and elbow, unless you have elbow/ knee guard. Waterproof torchlight is available in the shops at RM5 BUT it is the use-and-throw type. Cannot really last. So, still, I suggest that you bring your own. I recommend the Tour 4 instead of Tour 3. For us, Tour 3 is rather easy, only a few part need more strength and energy but not much. If you like something more extreme, go for Tour 4!

After the tour, we have our lunch which was provided, at their nearby hut. Simple Malay food with rice, fried chicken, chicken and potato curry, vegetables and orange juice. Simple yet Filling. So, I am ok with that. After resting for +/- 1 hour, we drove to the river tubing venue, which is a bout 1-1.5km away from Gua Tempurung. Don't worry, your destination is guided by the same guide from Gua Tempurung :)

All safety rules and regulation are given before the ride. Demonstration and emergency execution are provided to ensure that everyone play safe. play safe. Everyone is given a life jacket, helmet, and a tube, of course. The rest, just enjoy the ride. Dont worry if you do not know how to swim. The guide is always around. Just make sure that you have your safety gear on.

It was indeed a fun day. Only that the water level is a bit low, so always got stuck by the stones, rocks and pebbles. Recommended to go when the water is slightly higher. The faster the water flow, the more fun you will have! After a solid 3km ride, we are all tired. We will end up back to our parking place. Did I mention, the parking place is at RM1/ car. However, when we are going off, no one was there collecting money. So.....

The whole Gua Tempurung River Tubing experience took about 6.5 hours. Exhausted and tiring, some got injured (just a minor one, scratches here and there)

Moving on, we got back to our accommodation. This time, I booked a condominium on Airbnb at RM393. It is very spacious and can easily fit in 10-11 pax.

Ipoh Homestay

After settling down, off we go to Ipoh Parade for movie. Skip the movie part because I fell asleep throughout the movie.

We went to Sun Yoon Long, near old Ipoh Market for the famous SNOW BEER!

Dont be surprise if you see a bunch of Sun Yoon Lang Kafe. Seems like a famous name to use. Well, if you're asking which one to go for, I guess the one with the most people? I think Snow Beer is still the same. All you need is super chill glass plus super chill beer.

We went back at about 1am in the morning. We have a small birthday celebration for Wann Yang and myself. I have the loveliest family ever ♥♥
